TODAY'S DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE ON TEMPERANCE
Saturday, 26 April 2025
I do not judge you, but I encourage temperance because it brings you closer to peace.

The Holy Spirit empowers Christians to live in a way that honors me. Temperance might seem confusing these days, but it's simply about making choices that bring you closer to me in your daily life.
Remember, I gave you a spirit of power, love, and self-control, not fear. Temperance allows you to lead with love and strength. These qualities not only please me, but also create balance in your everyday life.
Temperance in the Modern World
Some might think temperance is like the Amish or the times when alcohol was banned. But it's still relevant today! Our world can be tempting, but temperance helps you resist.
Think of Jesus. He lived a perfect life, always focused on helping others. He made sacrifices, giving up some things people enjoy, because they could lead to sin.
But Jesus never felt like he was missing out. His self-control set him free. He knew he was giving up temporary pleasures to help others live holy lives.
You may not be called to be a leader like Jesus, but you can still be a role model. When you practice temperance, it's not just about you. It inspires others to follow your good example.
Great Rewards Await
Just like with great power, temperance requires responsibility and strength. But the rewards are worth it! You'll experience peace and freedom knowing you're living a life that pleases me.
This peace is like a calming breeze washing over your worries, a steady hand guiding you through difficult choices. You'll find joy in the simple things, free from the burden of excess. Temperance strengthens your relationships, as you'll have more to give to those you love without being pulled away by fleeting temptations.
Imagine a life overflowing with purpose, filled with the love you share with others and the love you receive from living according to my will. This is the true reward of temperance, a life that flourishes not just in the hereafter, but here and now.
Reflect on these words today
But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.
— 1 Corinthians 9:27
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
— Proverbs 3:5-6
