TODAY'S DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE ON HOPE

Sunday, 22 December 2024

Gray rain clouds may fill the sky, but know that the sun will soon emerge to shine its Heavenly light upon you.

Long winters can make for a beautiful, bountiful harvest season. Though days are spent indoors, hiding away from the dark, cold rain, we know the sun is peeking just behind the clouds, waiting to come out and greet everyone. The task at hand is simple: make it through the night so you can see the light once again.

Still, hope comes in waves. Days of all clouds and no sun become daunting, causing mental havoc at best. The sun is rejuvenating, and it can bring solace to those who have grown weary from the winter weather. Even the longest winters come to an end, and sometimes the benefits from their length are simply not yet visible to the naked eye.

The Hardest Part is Already Over

Every period of darkness comes with a number of lessons that I am trying to teach you as my child. You are meant to learn grander concepts from these, and they may be tough, but they are never insurmountable. I would never send you anything that you could not conquer proudly.

Remember the last long winter?

There were cloudy days and rainfall for weeks on end. You weren’t sure you’d ever see the sun again. It made you sad, because all you wanted to do was run outside and bask in its glow. Still, it wouldn’t show its face, and you were nearly certain it had forgotten all about you.

Then, one miraculous day, it emerged from the clouds, bringing with it a rainbow. You were not expecting the rainbow, let alone the sun, so this joyous occasion was truly one worth celebrating. You were reminded, in that moment, the value of having hope.

Rain Won’t Last Forever

Of course, you can’t see the view above the clouds quite like I can. You catch glimpses of it when you’re up in an airplane, but it’s still not the same. If you could see the world above the rainclouds, your hope would be restored instantly, and you’d forget what you were even worried about to begin with.

Focus on your relationship with me and your loved ones. These core principles will get you through even the darkest, longest winters, because our love for you shines brighter than the sun!

Reflect on these words today

Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.

— Romans 12:12

Know that wisdom is such to your soul; if you find it, there will be a future, and your hope will not be cut off.

— Proverbs 24:14
