TODAY'S DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
Sunday, 06 October 2024
You can be angry but do not use your anger as fuel for revenge. And do not stay angry.
You can be angry but do not use your anger as fuel for revenge. And do not stay angry. I know that this is easier said than done. But for those who love Me and follow Me, remember to be angry the right way.
There are a lot of factors affecting your mood and your temper that cause you to snap easily. Especially nowadays, everything that surrounds you are a large contributor to your emotional outburst. I know that you can never withhold your anger, that is why you should remember not to sin while in this emotion.
Understanding the Roots
There are a lot of factors that affect your responses to situations. The biggest contributor is stress. Never in a day have I not seen anyone who will not go through a stressful moment in their daily life.
The source of stress is everywhere - missed deadline, declined project proposal, busted car tire, traffic, and the list goes on. As the stress starts to build up, frustration starts to creep in. This will have a snowball effect without you noticing it causing your emotions to ignite and explode.
Feeling angry at times is as natural as breathing. It is part of human emotion. If you remember two thousand years ago, I drove out the money changer from the temple out of My anger?
You know it so well that I lived a perfect, sinless life when I was on earth, and the anger that was shown was out of righteous indignation. I will never discredit the way you feel towards a certain situation because I understand how you are feeling more than anyone else. My ask of you is to be angry in the right way.
Anger in the Rightful Place
Being angry is a highly sensitized emotion, and if you are not careful you can easily cross the threshold into real sin. While anger is both natural and normal, it’s important to keep that red line in mind. The good news is, you can turn your anger into something positive.
First, you need to bring it to My attention. My line is always open for you to vent out and pour out everything that your heart feels. I will never judge you for how you feel. This will help you release your emotion and it will not allow anger to breed into your heart.
I encourage you to pray and ask for strength that you may overcome your anger by filling it with the abounding love that comes from heaven. Rest assured, that this thing really works.
Second, let the fruit of the Spirit control the situation instead of submitting to the natural reflexes of your flesh. I know that it is not easy to control your temper, but you have to learn to pause when you feel like you are about to burst your emotion.
Breathe in and think. This will give you time to put things in perspective, helping you to tame your temper, and will redirect the focus of your anger away from the person but rather on the problem.
Ultimately, the people who follow and love Me, know how to hold their tongue. Their grandeur is to forgive and forget. This is how I expect you to live in Spirit --- like sons and daughter reflecting My character, not like a slave or a master.
Reflect on these words today
Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.
— Proverbs 14:29
Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides in the lap of fools.
— Ecclesiastes 7:9
